Hi, I’m Steph.
I’m the Founder and Director of Happy Headwork and Co-Director of Happy Headwork Community CIC. My work brings together psychology, adult learning and sustainable development to create practical, engaging learning experiences that help people, organisations and communities grow and thrive.
For over 25 years, I’ve worked in the UK and internationally across humanitarian response, sustainable development, and health and social care. My experience includes working with United Nations agencies, charities, the NHS and local government, designing and delivering learning, supporting organisational development and helping turn complex ideas into approaches people can understand and use.
At Happy Headwork, I lead the development of our workplace and community programmes. This includes working with partners to understand their needs, bringing together evidence and lived experience, securing funding, designing inclusive learning journeys and supporting projects from the first idea through to delivery and evaluation.
Whether I’m working with a workplace team, a community organisation or a group of participants, my approach is collaborative. I believe the strongest programmes are developed with people rather than for them. We bring useful ideas and tools, create opportunities to explore them in practice and support people to decide what works within their own lives, communities and organisations.
I particularly enjoy bringing people together, making psychology accessible and creating environments where people feel safe to explore and learn together. The moments I value most are often when someone sees something differently, recognises their own strengths or feels able to take ownership of what comes next.
Alongside Happy Headwork, I continue to work internationally as a consultant in human rights-based learning and development. Social and environmental justice are central to my work, and the different strands continually inform one another – connecting global experience with grounded, locally developed action.
